Recognizing the Real Jesus: Why It Matters More Than Ever
John 7:25–36 — By Pastor Jason Curtis
Every generation asks the same question:
“Who is Jesus?”
Some say He was a great teacher.
Some claim He was a prophet.
Others see Him as a symbol of kindness or justice.
But John 7:25–36 confronts us with a deeper reality—a Jesus who refuses to fit our assumptions and demands to be seen as He truly is.
THE PROBLEM: ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT JESUS
The crowd said, “We know where this Man is from…” (John 7:27).
They believed their assumptions more than Scripture.
We do the same when we reshape Jesus to fit culture, comfort, or personal desire.
THE REVELATION: JESUS DECLARES HIS TRUE IDENTITY
In verses 28–29, Jesus openly declares that He is sent from the Father.
He is not just a messenger—He IS the message.
He is not just speaking truth—He IS the truth.
And even when His enemies attempt to seize Him, Scripture says:
“…His hour had not yet come.”
God’s sovereignty overrules all human plans.
THE WARNING: GRACE HAS A WINDOW
Jesus warns:
“You will seek Me and not find Me.” (v. 34)
There is a seeking born of panic—not repentance.
Delaying obedience leads to a hardened heart.
THE INVITATION: SEE THE REAL JESUS
The real Jesus is:
- The Eternal Son of God
- Sent from the Father
- Sovereign over history
- Crucified for sinners
- Risen in power
- Returning in glory
Recognizing the real Jesus leads to real surrender and real transformation.
Are you ready to see Him as He truly is?
